Picture Perfect Italy
Having just returned from a three week trip in Italy with stops in Milan, Camogli and Verona, not to mention many days in Tuscany with visits to Tenuta di Valgiano, Querciabella, Fontodi, Montevertine and Riecine, I have lots of photos for another installment of “Picture Perfect Italy”. Unsurprisingly for a wine geek, many of these are of vines, soil, vats, barrels, bottles and glasses but one or two were certainly worth sharing.
The stunning Villa Rosmarino and sea view in Camogli, Liguria…
A tasting from barrel at Tenuta di Valgiano…
A view of the countryside beneath the Colline Lucchesi…
The fishing boats in Camogli harbour…
The sun sets in Panzano in Chianti…
There is a serious amount of oak lying in the cellars at Fontodi….
Sometimes you have to bring a bottle back to its roots though…
And you can’t get much closer than this – 1999 Flaccianello sitting amongst Fontodi vines in the Conca d’Oro, Panzano…
Labels for Montevertine’s Le Pergole Torte…
Like soldiers standing to attention…old vines in Radda…
Despite thinking that I’d find my way into a Dolce & Gabbana photo shoot in Portofino…
Camogli proved a much more fertile hunting ground…
Sadly there was no part for “wine tasting Irishman”…
