Sherry Shorts: International Sherry Week in Ireland

International Sherry Week

The countdown is on! International Sherry Week runs from 2nd to 8th November, and Ireland is now thankfully on the events map.

Stanley’s restaurant on St. Andrew’s St. is undoubtedly the hub for Dublin activities with a number of events planned including a tasting of Valdespino’s sherries from Macharnudo Alto on Tuesday 3rd (co-delivered by yours truly with the legendary Palo Cortado Cardenal making an appearance!!) and a BYO sherry session on Friday 6th. Further details are available at this link.

Ballymaloe Cookery School will be talking and tasting all things sherry on Wednesday 4th and will even be teaching students at the school how to pour their sherry using a venencia.

Further details on all the #sherryweek events in Ireland are available at this link.

If you can’t wait until 2nd November to indulge your sherry side, be sure to come along to SPIT – a wine fest in Smock Alley on Thursday 29th October. I’ll be there talking about the wonderful world of sherry, but with some of Ireland’s top independent wine importers gathering in one location, even if sherry isn’t your thing, there’ll be superb wines for everyone to try.
