Dublin Wine Fest: 20th-25th April 2015
Dublin Wine Fest kicks off on Monday and runs until Saturday 25th April. I went along to the launch party in Ely Bar & Brasserie last week and tried some of the wines that will be poured throughout the festival.
By purchasing a €5 wristband via www.entertainment.ie, guests will receive a 30% discount on selected festival wines on offer at over 30 Dublin bars and restaurants. Each venue is also offering a Dublin Wine Experience; details of what’s on at each venue can be found at www.greatirishbeverages.com.
There really is something for everyone during the week, but a standout for me will be Stanley’s on St. Andrew’s St. who are offering a flight of skin contact wines (including Testalonga El Bandito and Radikon!) and a pressed duck terrine canapé for €12. Pop along between 5-6pm and you’ll also catch a brief seminar on the history of wine, delivered by wine director Morgan Vanderkamer.
Ely Bar & Brasserie will be unsheathing their Coravin needles on a range of their wines throughout the week, while Italophiles will be keen on the Drury Buildings‘ offer of four wines from different regions in Italy. Wine geeks will be descending on Whitefriar Grill en masse – the restaurant’s wine experience offers a three-course early bird menu with paired wines (€32), plus a 10-question wine quiz where each correct answer docks 10% off your bill!
